BFREPA are hosting a webinar for members on the Elanco In-Lay vaccination

The webinar comes at a time when the importance of maintaining robust Salmonella protection remains high.

BFREPA has organised this webinar to ensure members are fully informed about the use of the In-Lay Salmonella vaccine and its application on farm.

BFREPA members are encouraged to attend the upcoming session, taking place on Friday 10 April. The webinar will feature Elanco’s Veterinary Technical Consultant, Josh Davison, alongside Gary Ford of BFREPA, offering practical guidance and the opportunity to ask questions around vaccine use and on farm administration.

The webinar comes at a time when the importance of maintaining robust Salmonella protection remains high. As highlighted by Dave Hodgson of Rosehill Poultry Services:

“The option to use a boosting dose of Salmonella vaccine in the In-Lay is important to laying farms for two reasons.

It provides an extra level of protection to the laying business from a disease which is financially catastrophic, causing the loss of birds, income and with the shortage of pullets could mean a long period of time out of business with expensive disinfection costs. Also the ability to get Salmonella insurance will be impacted negatively.

In the UK we have built a reputation of having the safest eggs in the world for human consumption, this is built on always going above and beyond with hard work, biosecurity and vaccination. Our continued success is based on this attitude to producing eggs. With longer laying cycles it is a statement that we are doing our upmost to ensure that our hens are well protected.”

The vaccine programme includes a fourth dose at around 50 weeks, extending immunity to approximately 100 weeks for Salmonella Enteritidis and around 94 weeks for Salmonella Typhimurium, supporting longer laying cycles.

With correct administration being vital, the webinar will also focus on the training and support available to ensure vaccines are used effectively on farm, and members will be able to put questions to the panel.
