BFREPA was set up in 1991 to represent free range egg producers across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It has grown in size and influence so that it is now estimated to represent around 2/3 of all free range egg production in Britain.

The fundamental services of BFREPA are representation and communication of free range industry information that keeps you up-to-date with issues relevant to your business.
A key and much appreciated communication benefit is our monthly Ranger Magazine which is the only magazine exclusively dedicated to the free range egg industry. Members benefit from free advertising in the magazine as well as additional communications sent out in the form of E-Newsletters and our texting services. Most recently we have set up a BFREPA Producers Group on ‘Telegram’ which is a similar messaging tool to WhatsApp.
New Pricing Portal - BFREPA have designed a price comparison portal into which Producer members can input and compare their detailed egg prices by grade against fellow producer and packer prices across the country.
The BFREPA website at www.bfrepa.co.uk is also an important source of information and services for Members. It’s where you can find all back copies of the Ranger, download research reports, self marketing tools and technical advice, read our latest press releases and much more.
Lobbying & Industry Representation: BFREPA is regularly consulted by Defra and other industry stakeholders on matters pertinent to the free range industry. BFREPA Council members and our CEO have representational seats on the BEIC Council, the British Egg Association and the NFU. The strength of our voice and influence has increased exponentially with rising membership and the professionalism of BFREPA Council members and staff. The more members and number of birds we represent, the stronger our voice!
Launched 1 December 21 - New disease protection advisory service for all BFREPA producers provided by Livetec Systems
All producer members have access to a dedicated telephone service to provide advice on biosecurity and contingency planning to protect against disease incursion such as AI or Salmonella. Telephone advice is also available during a disease outbreak to assist with movement licenses for example. BFREPA producer members are also be eligible for discounts for farm specific contingency plans, disease preparedness exercises, pre-build planning and depopulation services. Member discount schemes: BFREPA members recieve 10% discount on services offered by specialist egg data analysts EggBase, and can obtain up to 40% discount from specialist healthcare providers HMCA.

Education for Schools: BFREPA provides ‘Eggstravaganza’ education packs for primary school teachers to explain about and promote free range eggs in schools.
Support: BFREPA has developed a successful Free Range Industry Sustainability Support scheme which encourages trade companies to sponsor BFREPA to enable specific research and promotional projects to be commissioned.
Research: Numerous projects have now been completed & reports published to assist members including an investigation to reduce second quality eggs on farm, the provision of a comprehensive AI Contingency Planning guide, an ongoing study of the implications of the ‘Cage-Free 2025’ initiative, an analysis of multi-tier and flat deck systems, an ammonia emissions analysis report, a salmonella biosecurity guide and a ‘Making money from Muck’ report. More recently we have developed guidance for fair contracts and additional Salmonella & Avian Influenza prevention documents and farm posters. Ongoing research projects include a study by the SRUC to find the best enrichments to prevent feather pecking, participation in a Europe wide red mite project and a broad ranging sustainability and carbon footprinting project for the egg industry. National Egg Academy: BFREPA, in partnership with other industry bodies, is funding a new educational initiative at Bishop Burton College to encourage, train and support young people in the free range industry. See more at https://www.bfrepa.co.uk/academy/
Planning Data: BFREPA sends regular information about new Free Range planning applications to keep you abreast of expansion in the industry.
Annual Conference: BFREPA holds the largest conference for free range egg producers where we bring renowned and experienced speakers to provide advice and expertise to our membership. Ticket prices are maintained at a significant discount to encourage as many of our members to attend.
Annual Calendar Competition: Our photography competition is a bit of fun but anybody who sends in ‘winning’ photos can win themselves £25 per photo and the front cover winner receives £500.
Biennial Poultry Fair: BFREPA exhibits every other year and welcomes all members.
Independent sales marketing aids: BFREPA produces leaflets, stickers, kids word puzzles, posters, signs and banners that can support your ‘farm gate’ sales. Leaflets & stickers are free to members. Banners & signs can be produced for you at cost or you can download the artwork for free to produce your own.
Advice: BFREPA staff members and all those on the BFREPA Council are a source of expert advice and knowledge.
