BFREPA is excited to announce that Dan Walker will serve as the host for the 2025 BFREPA Gala Dinner and Awards on Thursday 27th November 2025.
Dan is currently the lead anchor for Channel 5's re-launched flagship news program, 5 News. Since joining Channel 5, he has presented several peak-time shows, including "Vanished: Britain's Hunt for Missing People" and the immensely popular "Dan & Helen's Pennine Adventure," which he co-hosts with Helen Skelton.
At the beginning of 2024, Dan will join Global to present the all-new Classic FM Breakfast Show, offering listeners a relaxing start to their day with the best in classical music and engaging conversation.
With over twenty years of experience as a journalist and broadcaster, Dan previously helmed BBC Breakfast for six years. He hosted the BBC's Football Focus for twelve years and has reported on five Olympic Games (Athens, Beijing, London, Rio, and Tokyo) and five World Cups, as well as covering the NFL. His time at BBC Sport also saw him report on prestigious events like Wimbledon, the Grand National, Royal Ascot, the Derby, and the Six Nations.
In 2021, Dan was thrilled to join the cast of BBC1's most popular entertainment show, Strictly Come Dancing, after being invited for the third time. He made it to the quarter-finals, much to his surprise and delight.
Dan enjoys playing golf and has organized his own charity golf tournament, The Walker Cup (not to be confused with the famous one), for the past five years, raising over £250,000 for The Children's Hospital Charity. He takes pride in living in Sheffield with his wife, three children, and their dog, Winnie.
