Sustainability Scheme

One of BFREPA's founding principles is sustainability, ensuring that we put back into the industry as much as we take out. With sustainability in mind, we launched the BFREPA Sustainability Scheme. This scheme allows those associated with the industry to showcase their support to egg producers and those connected with egg production through the British Free Range Egg Producers Association sustainability programme.

The programme allows BFREPA to fund various projects that improve the welfare of our hens and help producers better understand the management and challenges associated with producing free range eggs for UK consumers.

Our schemes are designed to maximise connections with our producers, but they are also a way for your company to show your customers how much you value ensuring the egg industry's sustainability.

Plenty of issues affect free-range production. Some issues we faced head-on in crisis were introduced and supported by industry within the sustainability scheme. The costing model that ADAS now manages clearly annotates the production cost and is still front and centre of our sustainability spend. We are pleased to say that most packers and retailers offer an option to be part of the ADAS cost of production.

But other issues linger, not least with manure, which is the biggest challenge facing the industry now. How the industry deals with and manages this product must ensure that we are respectful of the environment, particularly the rivers of the UK.

You can become involved in our scheme on three levels.

Our Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels give you access to advertising and editorial opportunities both online and in print, with exposure increasing depending on the level of support.
