Published on : 7 Aug 2024
In conjunction with sponsors Morspan Construction Ltd, the South West Chicken Association has developed a new annual Young Person's Development Award, offering up to £2,000 to support a young person interested in learning more about or furthering their career in the poultry industry. Applicants need to be between 17 and 30 years of age and residing or working within the current SWCA 'catchment' i.e. to the west of Oxfordshire and south of Gloucestershire (inclusive of those counties). The application window is now open for our inaugural award which will be provided to an applicant during 2025. Deadline for applications is 1 March 2025. The award monies can be put towards a defined project or learning objective proposed by the candidate, relating to any aspect of poultry. The award monies could be used to fund Conference attendance for example or pay for travel and accommodation to visit a processing plant or innovative manufacturing site. Any ideas for study or learning welcome. The applicant will need to outline how they would spend the award to achieve their objective. Members of the SWCA Committee who have wide ranging experience and roles within the chicken industry will help provide contacts and learning opportunities if required, for example by facilitating visits to different parts of the supply chain. Please feel free to forward information about this award to any young people you know who may be interested and benefit from support. Click here to download the application form.
