Maintain vigilance after housing order, urges BFREPA
Monday 22 March 2021
Robert Gooch, BFREPA CEO, said: “The lifting of the housing order, which has been in place since 14 December, will be a relief for free range egg producers who have worked hard to maintain hen welfare while continuing to produce food for consumers during a difficult period.
“However, we are urging continued vigilance and high levels of biosecurity from all poultry keepers. The risk level has has been reduced to medium, so the threat still exists.
“DEFRA has released advice for those preparing to release birds back outside on 31 March and we would encourage all poultry keepers to ensure they have read and understood the information.”
